This apartment is the homeowner’s childhood home—a place where the family has shared countless memories over the years. The renovation centers on the idea of “living with peace of mind,” keeping the kitchen and bathroom in their original locations while reorganizing the overall layout to make daily living smoother and more comfortable. An additional flexible room is thoughtfully reserved to accommodate future caregiving needs, ensuring that support and companionship can coexist naturally without disrupting the daily rhythm between father and daughter.

The design embraces a neutral and natural color palette, featuring Beech wood floor tiles and White Root Grey marble tiles, creating a soft, tranquil atmosphere that becomes even more timeless as the years pass.

Addressing the inevitable aging of an older apartment, we carefully repaired concrete spalling and irregular angled walls throughout the home, while redesigning the electrical system to ensure safe and stable operation of appliances such as the oven, wine fridge, dishwasher, and washing machine—all running concurrently when needed.

For the entrance, a Yale palm-vein electronic lock was selected, allowing the door to be opened with a simple touch of the palm—more intuitive for elderly use and an added layer of safety for the household.

The entire home is built upon a foundation of simplicity, enriched with natural materials, warm lighting, and cherished family objects that hold meaningful stories. Even after renovation, the space retains the soul and sentiment of “home.” This is more than just a residence— it is a gentle, thoughtful sanctuary crafted for a father, and for the shared future of their family.
